Storytelling is an intrinsic part of music festivals around the world, and Magnetic Fields was the first music festival in India to bring tellers of tales from India and around the world. Magnetic Words programming, like last year, will run on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the desert camp.
The theme for Magnetic Words this year is ‘Magnetic Minded’, a state of open-mindedness to ideas, however controversial they might be. Presenting their own version of what the future holds, will be storytellers from fields as diverse as film, technology, stand-up comedy and, adventure sports entrepreneurs.
Speakers confirmed for Magnetic Words 2018 include comic actor and musician Aadar Malik; photographer and filmmaker Avani Rai; entrepreneur and India’s youngest skydiving coach Rudra Solanki; machine learning and artificial intelligence scientist Ameya Bhatawdekar; London-based wordsmith, music producer and performance poet Shane Solanki; street artist, artistic director and co-founder of St+art India Foundation Hanif Qureshi; serial entrepreneur and Ikea’s innovation lab Space10 director Carla Camilla Hjort; storyteller, performance poet and YouTube star, Amandeep Singh; editor, columnist and media entrepreneur, Madhavan Narayanan; one of India’s most widely read film critics, Raja Sen, Mayank Tewari, co-writer of India’s official entry at 2017 Oscars, Newton; founder of Delhi-based cultural NGO, 5waraj – Gaurav Shorey and writer, editor and theatre practitioner Ruchika Chanana.
